Remote access software puts a computer that's somewhere else on your screen. You see what's on it, use its mouse and keyboard, and open the files and apps that live there. The office Mac stays in the office; you work on it from home.
Small teams use it to reach their own machines, to help a colleague who's stuck, and to keep shared computers like an edit bay or a front-desk PC within reach of everyone who needs them.
How Aile Insight works
It runs on each Mac, Windows PC or server you want to reach.
The app connects out to Aile Insight, so there's nothing to open on your router or firewall.
Sign in at app.aileinsight.com and open the machine you need.
People search for "remote desktop software", "remote computer access" and "remote access software" when they mean the same thing: reaching a computer and using it from somewhere else. Windows also has a feature called Remote Desktop, which is one of the ways Aile Insight opens a Windows PC.
The difference that matters is less the name than how the connection is made. Tools that need a port opened on your router expose the computer to the internet. Aile Insight's app connects out instead, so nothing on your network faces the internet.
Mac Screen Sharing, in your browser. You see the Mac's screen exactly as it is, so it works for reaching your own Mac and for helping someone who's sitting at theirs.
Windows Remote Desktop, in your browser, for working on a PC as yourself. It needs Windows Pro or higher. When you need to see someone's screen while they work, we set up screen sharing on that PC instead.
A terminal in your browser. No SSH keys to hand around and no port 22 open to the internet.
Any computer with a modern web browser. Nothing to install on it.
The app runs in the background, so you can open an office machine in the evening or a server at the weekend without anyone clicking "accept". The machine only needs to be on, awake and connected. Learn about unattended access
A colleague is stuck. Instead of asking them to describe the screen, you open their Mac, see the same thing they see, and take the mouse when they ask. Access is always known to them. Remote support with Aile Insight
In a Windows Remote Desktop session you can copy files to and from the remote PC. Mac Screen Sharing and the server terminal don't move files in Aile Insight today.
A virtual-assistant agency onboarding a new hire. A video studio with edit bays in two cities. An accounting office whose partners need the office PC from home. None of them want to become remote-access experts.
That's why every Aile Insight account is set up on a call: we install the app, name the machines, check each one opens from where you need it, and stay reachable Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm US Eastern. Aile Insight isn't a fleet-management or monitoring system, and it doesn't try to be.

Software that lets you open and use a computer from somewhere else: see its screen, use its mouse and keyboard, and reach its files and apps as if you were sitting at it.
Yes. With Aile Insight you open your machines in a web browser tab, so there's nothing to install on the laptop, tablet or office PC you're connecting from. The computer you're reaching runs a small app.
Yes, as long as the computer is switched on, awake and its Aile Insight app is running. That's unattended access, and it's how most people reach an office machine from home. More on unattended access
No. The app on each machine makes an outbound, encrypted connection, so you don't open ports or forward anything on your router.
Yes. Macs open with Mac Screen Sharing, Windows PCs with Windows Remote Desktop, and Linux servers with a terminal, all in the browser. Windows Remote Desktop needs Windows Pro or higher; we check this with you before setup.
